Science Clubs International

@ Stanford

Since joining Stanford, we have brought the program “Clubes de Ciencia” to campus in collaboration with Science Clubs International (SCI) and the Clubes de Ciencia network across Mexico, Brazil, and Peru.

SCI is a non-profit organization that provides free, hands-on STEM workshops for high school and university students in Latin America.

The Clubes de Ciencia Program was selected by hundrED as one of the top 100 education innovations that are changing the face of education

Our mission

Our mission is to inspire the next generation of scientists through bilingual hands-on STEM workshops designed for high school and college students.

Each "Clubes de Ciencia" is co-taught by graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, researchers, and faculty from Stanford University and partner institutions in Latin America.

Discovering science as a possibility

For many students, Clubes de Ciencia is their first exposure to cutting-edge research and to scientists who look like them or share their passion for science. These workshops help students build confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging in STEM.

From research to impact

Stanford graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty bring their research to life by designing and teaching hands-on, bilingual STEM workshops. Through SCI@Stanford, instructors gain hands-on teaching experience, cross-cultural collaboration skills, and the opportunity to mentor students beyond the classroom.

Training scientists beyond the lab

SCI@Stanford prepares early-career scientists to communicate their work, lead inclusive learning environments, and engage globally. Instructors describe how teaching through Clubes de Ciencia reshaped how they think about mentorship, science, and service.
